A Personal Account of How Microcredit Lending is Changing the Lives of Women Farmers in Haiti

The Raising Haiti Foundation provides support for grassroots initiatives designed to foster socio-economic development across rural Haiti (Raising Haiti Foundation).

"Women are the foundation for the economy in my community, and in the whole country” said Marimène Tijuste, a member of the Smallholder Farmers Alliance (SFA) in Haiti, in a recent interview with Ms. Magazine, “We make life possible.”

Marimène tells her own deeply moving and very personal story of triumph over hardship and adversity. She recounts how her life changed dramatically when she became a client of the microcredit loan and business training program sponsored by the Raising Haiti Foundation and implemented by the SFA.
